This work is serious inspired by Arnold Schoenberg's "Three Piano Pieces", where he did utilize the "pitch class set theory", that was developed and refined largely by Allen Forte.
This theory has an important theoretical share in this wind quintet work. The title and the general philosophy behind has been given after the visit of Vienna city and Zentralfriedhof (Central Cemetery) in 2005 as well, where the composer was much impressed by the grave of the founder of the Second Viennese School.
"Der Letzte Traum" is a piece if full of lyrical and some tragic elements.
